OHIO STATE PARKS AND HONDA OF AMERICA
BRING PARKS PALS ACTIVITY BOOKS TO GRADE SCHOOL STUDENTS

COLUMBUS, OH -- Elementary school children across Ohio will benefit from a unique partnership between Ohio State Parks and Honda of America Manufacturing, Inc. of Marysville, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

Thanks to a $35,000 partnership grant from Honda, Ohio State Parks will distribute 100,000 copies of Parks Pals to grade school classrooms and to students who visit state parks. Parks Pals is a colorful activity booklet filled with nature games, facts and quizzes developed by ODNR staffers.

“This partnership makes it possible for us to bring the lessons of nature to young students across our state in a fun and effective manner,” said Dan West, chief of Ohio State Parks. “We would not have been able to provide Parks Pals booklets to so many students without the assistance of Honda.”

Families also have the option of ordering free copies of Parks Pals by visiting the Ohio State Parks web site at www.ohiodnr.com

“Honda is pleased to be a partner in this nature education activity that encourages youngsters throughout the state to help protect natural resources for future generations,” said Rene Hoy, Honda spokesperson.

Ohio's 73 state parks encompass more than 204,000 acres. Fifty-seven parks feature campgrounds. Thirty-six parks host visitor and nature centers and eight parks are the homes of premium resort lodges. Six parks feature 18-hole golf courses.

Honda Manufacturing of America, Inc. operates four plants in Ohio, employing more than 13,000 associates in the manufacturing of automobiles, engines and motorcycles.
