OHIO'S "PLANT PRIDE, NOT LITTER" PROGRAM RECOGNIZED AS NATION'S FINEST
LITTER PREVENTION CAMPAIGN

COLUMBUS, OH -- Ohio's "Plant Pride, Not Litter" litter prevention program has been recognized as the nation's finest, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). The program recently received first place at the national Keep America Beautiful conference in Washington, D.C.

"Plant Pride, Not Litter" was introduced in 2001 as Ohio's comprehensive litter prevention program. Today, communities across the state use the program to promote litter prevention and neighborhood beautification. The award also recognized two components of the program: litter "summits" designed to bring communities together to discuss local litter problems and solutions, and the "Lucky the Ladybug" anti-litter campaign for children.

Keep America Beautiful is a nonprofit public education organization dedicated to encouraging individuals to take responsibility for improving their communities. The national organization has more than 500 state, county and city affiliate programs, including 34 programs in Ohio. The national award marks the fourth time that the ODNR Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention has been recognized by Keep America Beautiful.
