LODGE AND COTTAGES AT DEER CREEK STATE PARK TO CLOSE
AS PART OF EXTENSIVE UPGRADE
COLUMBUS, OH - The Lodge & Conference Center at Deer Creek State Park in Pickaway and Fayette counties will close from January 3 to February 11 as part of a $1.4 million project to renovate and upgrade the facility, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). The park’s 25 family cottages will also be closed for renovation during that period.
Other park facilities such as recreational trails and the campground will remain open for use by visitors.
Planned lodge renovations include replacement of the building’s central heating and cooling system and ceiling skylights. Sliding glass balcony doors on each guest room will also be replaced. Improvements are also slated for each of the park’s standard family cottages, located just south of the lodge. Two cottages will be redesigned and made handicapped accessible.
The resort lodge at Deer Creek State Park opened in 1981 and was constructed at a cost of $13.3 million. Each of its 110 guest rooms features a balcony with panoramic view of Deer Creek Lake. The lodge is equipped with private meeting and banquet rooms Additional amenities include indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, exercise facility, game room, gift shop and lounge.
Additional Ohio State Parks with resort lodges include Hueston Woods in Preble County, Shawnee in Scioto County, Salt Fork in Guernsey County, Punderson in Geauga County, Maumee in Lucas County and Burr Oak in Morgan County. A new resort lodge at Geneva State Park in Ashtabula County opened in May. The lodge at Mohican State Park in Ashland County is also slated for renovation and will be closed from January 17 to April 13.
