RECORD BUCK TO BE DISPLAYED AT ODNR DIVISION OF WILDLIFE EXHIBIT DURING NATIONAL WILD TURKEY FEDERATION CONVENTION IN COLUMBUS FEBRUARY 15-18

COLUMBUS, OH --The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife will host Mike Beatty of Xenia and display his record whitetailed deer during the National Wild Turkey Federation's Convention and Sport Show in Columbus February 15-18.

The show, held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, will contain more than 400 outdoor exhibits, taxidermy displays, seminars and turkey calling contests. Exhibit hall hours are Friday, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

ODNR's Division of Wildlife will have a variety of displays and activities, including: an archery range, a computer simulated turkey hunt, a "touch table" with information and hands-on artifacts of Ohio's indigenous wildlife, spring and fall turkey hunting scenes, youth and women's exhibits, a live timber rattlesnake exhibit and the new state record deer.

Mike Beatty will be on hand to answer questions and display his 39-point non-typical buck in the Division of Wildlife's exhibit area on Saturday and Sunday. A panel of scorers from the Buckeye Big Buck Club scored the Beatty buck at 304 6/8, making it the largest non-typical buck ever taken in Ohio and placing it in contention to be the largest non-typical taken by a hunter anywhere in the country.
