TRAINING WORKSHOPS FOR OHIO HUNTER EDUCATION INSTRUCTORS
TO BE HELD IN DELAWARE AND SCIOTO COUNTIES

COLUMBUS, OH -- Three weekend workshops aimed at training hunter education instructors are available this year, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.

The workshops will be held March 29-30 at Recreation Unlimited in Delaware County, April 12-13 at Shawnee State Park Resort in Scioto County and September 13-14 at Recreation Unlimited in Delaware County.

“Ohio currently has 1,400 volunteer instructors who train hunters, especially young hunters, to be safe and responsible,” said Matt Ortman, hunter education coordinator for the ODNR Division of Wildlife. “These dedicated volunteers spend countless hours conducting the training that helps keep Ohio a safe place to hunt.”

To become a certified instructor, individuals must be at least 21 years of age, have successfully completed a hunter education course and complete a volunteer instructor-training workshop.

Each workshop begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday and ends no later than 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. Meals and lodging are provided at no cost to the prospective instructor. A $25 deposit will be returned to instructor candidates upon arrival at the workshop.
