OHIO BOTANICAL SYMPOSIUM SET FOR APRIL 1 IN COLUMBUS
Botanists, naturalists and native plant enthusiasts encouraged to attend the daylong event

COLUMBUS, OH - Invasive species, restoring prairie remnants and the state’s best plant finds of 2004 are some of the topics to be discussed on April 1 during the Fifth Annual Botanical Symposium. Sponsored by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and The Nature Conservancy, the event will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the auditorium of the Ohio Department of Transportation, 1980 W. Broad St., just west of downtown Columbus.

Guest speaker Entomologist Dan Herms from The Ohio State University will discuss the implications of the emerald ash borer and the future of the ash tree in North America. Other featured speakers include naturalist Roger Troutman, former ODNR botanist Allison Cusick, ecologist Gary Coovert, and experts with the ODNR Division of Natural Areas and Preserves.
