NEW BEACH PLANNED AT BUCKEYE LAKE’S NORTH SHORE
Partnership between civic association, state park improves Crane Lake

COLUMBUS, OH - Visitors to Buckeye Lake State Park will have a new beach to enjoy this summer, thanks to a partnership between the Buckeye Lake Area Civic Association and Ohio State Parks. The 90-foot beach is being built at the 5-acre Crane Lake, adjacent to Buckeye Lake’s North Shore boat ramp. Work on the new beach began this week and is expected to be complete this month.

“We’re excited to give young people in the area a new recreational opportunity,” said Tim Waln, park manager at Buckeye Lake State Park. The maximum depth of the water in the beach area will be 4.5 feet.

The water level in Crane Lake will be dropped by about two feet during construction of the beach, exposing any potential underwater hazards in the beach area. The project, however, will not impact Buckeye Lake’s water levels. The 210 tons of sand needed for the project has been provided by the civic association, while Ohio State Park’s personnel is constructing the beach.
