“You really get two for one when you play this course,” according to golf pro Don Karns, who provides lessons at this 18-hole championship course. “The views are amazing and you get to enjoy a game of golf that will test your skill.”
The popular “Scottish Links” style resort golf course at Maumee Bay features low, rolling mounds; bentgrass fairways, greens and tees; numerous sand bunkers and ponds. The course rests on 1,850-acres of protected wetland along the coast of Lake Erie’s western basin.
Designed in 1991 by acclaimed golf-course architect Arthur Hills, it is a favorite among golfers of all skill levels, and has received national recognition from several publications as being one of the country’s best golf values. The 72-par course has been listed among the “100 Must-Play Courses in Ohio” published by GolfStyles Ohio magazine. The magazine commended the course for appealing to a large segment of the golf population, requiring strategy as well as skill, giving average players a fair chance while requiring the utmost from the expert, and preserving the natural beauty of the land.
In addition to its championship links, Maumee Bay Golf Course also offers a clubhouse, pro shop, snack bar and full-service practice facility. It is open from approximately April 1 through October.
The course offers competitive rates and specials. Discounts are provided to individuals in outings of at least 50 players, as well as seniors. Lessons also are available for individuals or groups with the golf course pro.
