COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The ODNR Division of Watercraft Sandusky field office responded to an accident in which a commercial ferry, the Shirley Irene, ran aground and partially sank in Lake Erie's Sandusky Bay this morning. At the request of the US Coast Guard, Station Marblehead, the Division of Watercraft dispatched a boat and two State Watercraft officers to transport de-watering devices to the grounded ferry. The ferry's three crewmen were not injured.

The Division of Watercraft boat is currently assisting with the investigation by providing transportation for the US Coast Guard Boarding Team investigating the accident.
