DIVISION OF WILDLIFE ANNOUNCES SPRING TROUT RELEASE SCHEDULE

COLUMBUS - More than 79,000 rainbow trout measuring 10 to 13 inches will be released into 38 Ohio lakes during March and April to enhance public fishing opportunities and encourage more people to fish, the Ohio Division of Wildlife said.

The first release will be made March 5 in Adams Lake in southwest Ohio. The daily catch limit in the inland lakes is five trout per angler.

"Our purchase of the Castalia hatchery two years ago has provided a boost in trout production and fishing opportunities for Ohio. Fishing is an affordable and fun recreational opportunity that we hope more people will learn to enjoy this year," said Gary Isbell, executive administrator of fish management and research for the Ohio Division of Wildlife.

Anglers age 16 and older must have an Ohio fishing license. Those age 66 and older may obtain a free fishing license. The resident annual fishing license costs $15 and is valid March 1 through February 29, 2000. A one-day fishing license may be purchased for $7.

As of March 1, all fishing and hunting licenses will be sold through a new electronic sales system.
