ODNR AWARDS MORE THAN $2,000,000 IN GRANTS TO
EXPAND MARKETS FOR RECYCLED PRODUCTS STATEWIDE
$771,850 in grants go to scrap tire recycling efforts

COLUMBUS, OH -- More than $2,000,000 in Recycling Market Development Grants have gone to cooperating businesses and local solid waste management districts across the state, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

Approximately $1,262,871 in grants went to nine plastics and paper recyclers, while another $771,850 went to three businesses that recycle scrap tires. Each recipient must provide a contribution equal to or greater than the grant award.

“Market development grants help state and local governments strengthen relationships with their local recycling business partners,” said ODNR Director Sam Speck. “In turn, the partnerships help Ohio's economy by creating jobs and long-term markets for many of the materials collected by the state's local recycling programs.”

Since 1994, the ODNR Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention has awarded more than $6.3 million in Recycling Market Development grants to cooperating businesses and local solid waste management districts across Ohio.
