WINTER IS A GREAT TIME TO CAPTURE BEAUTY OF STATE PARKS
Photos can be entered in Ohio State Parks photo contest until March 31

COLUMBUS, OH - While enjoying an Ohio State Park this winter, visitors are reminded to capture the splendor of Ohio’s state parks on camera for the annual fall and winter photo contest. Entries are being accepted through March 31, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

Contest categories include scenic shots of “Cool Season Beauty” and “Cold Weather Fun,” featuring people enjoying recreational activities and park facilities. Photos will be judged in two age groups - youth 18 years old and younger, and adults age 19 and older. Winning photographs will be featured in the Fall 2005/Winter 2006 issue of the Ohio State Parks magazine.

Some of the best opportunities to capture fun winter photos are during upcoming special events hosted at Ohio State Parks, including winter hikes and maple syrup festivals. In addition to scenic snow-covered trails, many state parks feature sledding hills, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling areas, and a few offer ice skating ponds. Or combine a photo shoot with a winter getaway at an Ohio State Park resort lodge or cottage. For a complete listing of park events, winter recreation facilities and overnight opportunities, visit the ODNR website at ohiodnr.com.

To enter, send your 5x7 print to: Ohio State Parks Photo Contest, 2045 Morse Road, C-3, Columbus, Ohio, 43229-6693. Photos must have been taken at one of Ohio’s 74 state parks. There is no limit on the number of photos an individual can submit. Each photo must include the following information the back of the print: entrant’s name, address, daytime phone number, age (for youth entries), name of the state park where photo was taken, and date of the photo. Professional photographers must include a publication rights release. All photos will be retained by Ohio State Parks for possible use in publications and promotional materials.
