OHIO ENJOYS SAFE BOATING WEEKEND -
NO DEATHS AND FEW ACCIDENTS
COLUMBUS, OH Thousands of boaters safely enjoyed Ohios waterways this
July 4th weekend, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
Field reports from ODNRs Division of Watercraft indicate heavy boating activity
but no boating fatalities and only six injury accidents from June 30-July 4.
The six accidents included two break wall collisions on Lake Erie, two collisions and a
tubing accident in northeastern Ohio and a capsize in the Ohio River region.
Last year saw three dozen serious accidents and one death during the time period.
