MT. GILEAD RESIDENT BECOMES WATERCRAFT OFFICER AT MAUMEE BAY

COLUMBUS, OH – Mt. Gilead resident Cory Cover has been appointed watercraft officer at Maumee Bay, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Watercraft.

He is a graduate of Hocking College and Mt. Gilead High School. Cover’s assignment is to enforce state boating laws and primarily will be patrolling on the Maumee River, Auglaize River, Lake La Su An and Nettle Lake in northwest Ohio.

Cover has been trained in boating regulation and safety and is a certified peace officer for the State of Ohio. He has received instruction in the Ohio Revised Code, self-defense, investigative and arrest techniques, firearms handling and certification, crime scene preservation and analysis, proper search and seizure techniques, first aid and law enforcement communication skills.

ODNR’s Division of Watercraft administers and enforces state boating regulations and laws, conducts boating safety education programs and develops boating facilities on major water areas.
