COLUMBUS, OH -- Larry B. Mixon Sr. of Columbus has been appointed by Governor Bob Taft to the Ohio Wildlife Council, the eight member board which sets and approves regulations that govern fish and wildlife seasons in Ohio.

Mixon, former superintendent and executive director for transportation services for Columbus Public Schools will serve on the council through January 31, 2005.

“We are fortunate to have Dr. Mixon on the Ohio Wildlife Council,” said Steven A. Gray, chief of the ODNR Division of Wildlife. “He is a lifelong sportsman who is very committed to advancing wildlife conservation in Ohio.”

Mixon, who received his Ph.D from The Ohio State University, is an avid outdoorsman and marksman, enjoying rabbit and wild turkey hunting, bowhunting for white-tailed deer, fishing for bass, walleye and Chinook salmon, and benchrest shooting.

Mixon, 54, resides in Columbus with his wife, Joan. He replaces long-time wildlife council member and secretary Jesse Hopkins of Sandusky.
