BIRD PROMOTED AS CAMBRIDGE AREA STATE BOATING ADMINISTRATOR

COLUMBUS, OH - State watercraft officer John Bird has been promoted to area supervisor for boating programs in eastern Ohio, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Watercraft. He will work out of the Cambridge field office in Guernsey County

In his new position, Bird will be responsible for coordinating law enforcement, boating education programs and public relations efforts in eastern Ohio. He also will supervise field operations at Salt Fork, Seneca and Tappan lakes.

Bird joined ODNR in 1980 and has worked in the Cambridge field office since 1983. He was named the Division of Watercraft’s Officer of the Year in 1991. He has served as acting supervisor of the Alum Creek field office in central Ohio since December.

He replaces Mark Reed who retired last month year.

Bird and his wife Joann reside in New Concord with their children, Jenna and Jacob.

The ODNR Division of Watercraft administers Ohio’s boating program. The division oversees boat registration and titling operations; provides funding to local communities for education; enforcement and boating facilities; educates the public and enforces boating laws on Ohio’s waterways.
