ODNR HELPS OHIOANS FIND LOCAL RECYCLING OPPORTUNITIES ON LINE

COLUMBUS, OH -- Ohioans can now find their closest place to recycle with just the click of a computer mouse, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

ODNR recently unveiled an interactive web service that provides statewide access to a comprehensive database of local Ohio recycling centers, services and processors. Residents in all of Ohio’s 88 counties can locate recycling services and facilities 24-hours a day, seven days a week, via the Internet by visiting ohiodnr.com and clicking on “Recycling

The Ohio County Recycling Map Viewer, designed by ODNR, provides residential information about local drop off, curbside, special materials collection and "pay-as-you-throw" programs, including location, types of materials collected and hours of operation.

“This is an example of how a state agency can use new, innovative technology to provide the general public with local, current recycling and waste disposal information,” said Ron Kolbash, chief of the ODNR Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention.

Ohio recyclers can also use the map to find local composting, landfill, waste transfer and material recovery facilities. Companies in the recycling industry can access the locations of secondary processors and end users of recycled materials. The site also reports solid waste and recycling rate information and statistics from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency for every solid waste district in Ohio.
