NORTHWEST OHIOANS AFFECTED BY EMERALD ASH BORER ERADICATION EFFORTS INVITED TO INFORMATION MEETINGS
COLUMBUS, OH - Land owners in the communities of Oregon, East Toledo, Northwood and Walbridge who lost ash trees in their yards as part of local emerald ash borer eradication efforts are invited to attend four upcoming informational meetings to learn how they can restore tree cover. The meetings, hosted by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Forestry, are designed to introduce property owners to the restoration process and explain how to apply for new trees. Since being discovered in southeastern Michigan in 2002, the emerald ash borer has killed as many as 15 million ash trees and has since been found in more than a dozen isolated locations in northwest and central Ohio.
As part of Ohio’s emerald ash borer control strategy, the Division of Forestry has implemented tree restoration efforts in Whitehouse, Columbus, Hicksville, and Rossford.
