ODNR RECRUITING WOMEN AND THEIR TEENS
FOR OUTDOOR ADVENTURE WEEKEND

COLUMBUS, OH – Mothers and their teenage children are invited to participate in an outdoor skills weekend adventure at Lake Hope State Park and Zaleski State Forest June 23-25 in Vinton County. The event is being hosted by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

The adventure weekend is designed to teach outdoor recreation skills such as canoeing, fishing, boating, tent camping, rifle shooting, rappelling, survival skills, and much more. The Outdoor Women Go To B.A.T. (Bring A Teen) program is developed from the popular Becoming An Outdoors Woman program previously introduced to Ohio by the ODNR Division of Wildlife.

"We are offering this program to a maximum of 30 adult and 30 teen participants. Adult women must register and participate with a boy or girl ages 12 through 17 to be included in this special weekend program," said Phil King of the Division of Wildlife.

Registration fees are $45 per person. The registration deadline is June 10. Participants will be camping in tents along a ridgetop near Lake Hope State Park and taking part in a rugged hike, plus other outdoor recreation activities. While some meals will be provided, participants will be required to bring some of their own food, camping equipment, and other personal items.

"This is a hands-on outdoor skills training workshop, so there will not be much in the way of comfortable amenities. Our program will be held in a very scenic, but remote area of Vinton County," said King.
