COLUMBUS, OH -- Buying an Ohio hunting or fishing license got easier today, as the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife unveiled its new online license sales system. Any type of hunting or fishing license or permit is now available via the Internet at ohiodnr.com.

Governor Bob Taft kicked off the system, purchasing his new fishing license for this year.

“I hope everyone who enjoys Ohio’s many hunting and fishing opportunities takes advantage of this truly convenient service,” said Taft, who has challenged state government to make more services available through the Internet.

Last year, approximately 400,000 hunting licenses were sold in Ohio, while anglers bought around 800,000 fishing licenses. Ohio is considered one of the top destinations in the Midwest for white-tailed deer and wild turkey hunting. Lake Erie and its tributaries annually draw anglers from around the country who fish its waters for record-sized walleye, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and steelhead trout.
