Public Comments Sought on
Routine Change To Ohio Coastal Management Program Document

SANDUSKY, OH - In an effort to obtain public input on proposed routine changes to the Ohio Coastal Management Program document, written comments are being accepted by the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management for the next three weeks.

This routine program change reflects on the role of the Office of Coastal Management as the central agency in implementing the program in Ohio.  It also reflects minor changes to the program document, including updates to laws and administrative rules, organizational changes, and updated lists of federal agencies, permits and federal financial assistance.

A general public comment period on the draft routine program change was held in August.  Based on feedback from the public and NOAA, two modifications have been made to what was submitted originally.  The first keeps the length of Ohio's Lake Erie shoreline referenced in the document at 262 miles, rather than the proposed change to 312 miles.  The second withdraws the proposed enforceable bottled water component in Policy #9 (Potable Water Supply).

The proposed changes can be viewed on the Office of Coastal Management website at www.ohiodnr.com/coastal. Comments must be sent within three weeks to:
