COLUMBUS, OH -- Nominations are now being accepted for the Ohio Natural Resources Hall of Fame. Since 1966, the Hall of Fame has been the state's top honor for individuals past and present who have made significant lifelong contributions to Ohio's natural resources through management practices, environmental education or scientific achievement. Special consideration is given to those who have taken an especially unique or innovative approach to stewardship of Ohio's natural resources.

Nominations will be accepted through Friday, June 16, 2000.

Created by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) in 1966, the Hall of Fame now includes 123 individuals, including John Chapman (Johnny Appleseed), explorer John Wesley Powell, conservationist/novelist Louis Bromfield, pioneering botanist Lucy Braun and farming conservation advocate Bob Evans.

The annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held in Columbus this coming summer.
