COLUMBUS, OH -- Members of Ohio's Cardinal Camper Club will now receive a 15 percent discount on campsite fees at Ohio State Parks, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). Camping enthusiasts can join the Cardinal Camper Club for $20 by registering at a state park or by mailing in an application available on the Internet at Ohiodnr.com .
The member discount on campsite fees was recently increased to 15 percent for the period between April and October. In addition, the same 15 percent discount now applies to the Camping Options Program during the same time period. Members will continue to receive a 20 percent discount on off-season campsite fees from November through March.
Camping is one of the most popular pastimes in Ohio and the Cardinal Camper Club, with its member discounts, is a real benefit to all campers, said Dan West, Ohio State Parks chief. We are also proud to extend club member benefits to those people who want to experience camping without investing money in tents, RVs or other equipment.
More than 800 families and individuals currently enjoy year-round discounts on camping in Ohio State Parks campgrounds through the Cardinal Camper Club, now in its third year. A membership is good for one year from the date of purchase. Membership cards are non-transferable and cannot be used with other discounts or promotions. Discounts are good for one campsite per card, per visit.
Ohio State Parks' popular Camping Options Program offers a variety of ways to experience camping for people without equipment or those who don't want to bother with set up and tear down. It includes Rent-A-Camp, Rent-A-RV, Rent-A-Yurt or Tepee (excluding the Kelleys Island yurts), cedar cabins and camper cabins.
Ohio State Parks 57 family campgrounds are open year round. Some parks host theme campouts with family activities, while others offer nature programs, guided hikes and movies during summer months.
