NEARLY $450,000 IN CLEAN BOATING GRANTS NOW AVAILABLE THROUGH OHIO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES

COLUMBUS, OH - Applications for grants to install and improve recreational marine sanitation disposal facilities are now being accepted by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

Public and private owners of waterfront facilities such as marinas, gas docks and boat launch ramps are eligible to apply. Marine disposal facilities are commonly referred to as boat pump-outs and dump stations, but also may include floating restrooms.

ODNR recently received a $357,000 grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Clean Vessel Act program, which the department will provide a one-fourth match from state waterway safety funds. The grant is administered to local recipients by the ODNR Division of Watercraft.

Applications for these grants are accepted throughout the year. Those that are received now are eligible for up to 100 percent project cost reimbursement. Clean Vessel Act grant applications may be obtained from the ODNR web site at Ohiodnr.com or by calling the Division of Watercraft at 419-621-1402.
