ODNR PROMOTES SAFE SUMMER SWIMMING AT OHIO STATE PARKS

COLUMBUS, OH - Adult visitors to Ohio State Parks beaches are urged to SwimSafe! this summer and keep an eye on children in their charge, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

“We want people to have a fun, safe day at a state park beach this summer,” said Dan West, chief of Ohio State Parks. “Families and friends can enjoy a great day of recreation and remain safe by keeping an eye on the kids playing near or in the water.”

Safety is an important part of a successful family outing to state parks and the three-year-old SwimSafe! program is a reminder that in addition to packing lotions, beach toys and snacks, parents and adult guardians should “keep an eye on the kids” while at the beach.

Ohio State Parks offer 66 beaches on 47 inland lakes in addition to 10 beaches on Lake Erie. Last year, more than 4 million people visited state park beaches across Ohio.
