COLUMBUS, OH -- Richard S. Bartz has been named chief of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Water. Employed with ODNR for 29 years, Bartz served for the past eight years as assistant chief of the division.
Bartz joined ODNR in 1974 as a planner in ODNR's Lake Erie Coastal Management program.
A native of Toledo, he is a graduate of Miami University where he received his master's degree in environmental sciences.
Bartz and his wife, Annette, have two children and reside in Clintonville.
ODNR's Division of Water has broad responsibilities for managing Ohio's surface and ground water resources. The division collects hydrologic data; develops ground water resource and pollution control maps; issues permits for the construction of dams, dikes, and levees; inspects existing dams; operates the state canal system; administers the state's floodplain management program; and conducts water supply studies.
