J. WILLIAM MOODY TO RETIRE AS ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF
THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES

COLUMBUS, OH -- J. William Moody, assistant director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) since 1995, has announced that he will retire effective June 30.

Moody joined ODNR in February 1991 as the department’s budget chief, after serving 16 years as Knox County Auditor. In January 1995 he became ODNR assistant director, the second-highest ranking position in one of Ohio’s largest and most diverse state agencies.

“Much of what the department has accomplished in recent years is directly attributable to Bill Moody’s efforts, and we are deeply grateful to him for his contributions,” ODNR Director Sam Speck said.

Moody and his wife, Karen, are long-time residents of Fredericktown.

ODNR, with more than 1,800 employees statewide and an annual operating budget of $315,000,000, is responsible for the preservation, management and wise utilization of the state's natural resources. ODNR's operating divisions include: Engineering, Forestry, Geological Survey, Mineral Resources Management, Natural Areas & Preserves, Parks & Recreation, Real Estate & Land Management, Recycling & Litter Prevention, Soil & Water Conservation, Water, Watercraft and Wildlife.
