COLUMBUS, OH - Ten schools and day care centers across Ohio have each been awarded a $500 grant to create wildlife habitat on their grounds, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.
The WILD School Sites program, funded by the Division of Wildlife, aids teachers and students in creating habitat improvement projects that can be used to teach various subjects.
“It’s exciting to see the level of student involvement and how well wildlife habitat improvement projects complement today’s school curriculum,” said Jen Dennison, wildlife education coordinator with the Division of Wildlife.
Next year’s round of grants will be extended to 20 sites. Applications can be found on the Division of Wildlife’s Web page at ohiodnr.com under the Wildlife Diversity section and can be submitted starting January 1.
