ODNR OPENS MINERAL RESOURCES OFFICE IN CAMBRIDGE

COLUMBUS, OH -- Southeastern Ohio residents with questions or inquiries regarding active and abandoned coal mines; the mining of industrial minerals; and the regulation of oil and gas wells can now obtain service at a new district office in Cambridge, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

The ODNR Division of Mineral Resources Management today officially opened its new southern regional office at 2050 E. Wheeling Avenue.

“This office was established to provide good, efficient customer service for the people of southeast Ohio,” said ODNR Director Sam Speck. “It is centrally located, has a comfortable conference facility and enjoys easy access from the Interstate.”

The office promises to be a regional hub where citizens can find out about local mining and oil and gas drilling businesses; apply for a mining permit; file a complaint on an existing mining operation; or obtain information about abandoned mine lands projects. Services are also available in the region from a satellite office located in Jackson.

The ODNR Division of Mineral Resources Management regulates the mining of coal and industrial minerals in Ohio, as well as the drilling of oil and gas wells. The division oversees enforcement of mine health and safety laws and the reclamation of abandoned mine lands.

An additional Mineral Resources district office is located in New Philadelphia with satellite offices located in Uniontown and Salem.
