COLUMBUS, OH – Pockets of good Fall Color remain in Ohio’s woodlands with peak color conditions reported at Jackson Lake State Park and Lake Alma State Park in the southeastern portion of the state, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

“It’s been another colorful autumn in Ohio,” said Casey Munchel, Fall Color specialist with the ODNR Division of Forestry. “While a lack of sunny days failed to bring out the bright reds and oranges of the maple trees, the golds, yellows and ambers of the oaks, American Beech and hickories have been especially strong this year.”

Fall Color lingers on the Internet at ohiodnr.com where visitors are encouraged to submit their best seasonal photos for display.

Colors are fading at Malabar Farm State Park in Richland County where the first Hearthside Cookery Workshops are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on November 4-5.  Cooking "students" will prepare a traditional Thanksgiving feast over an open fire, then stay to savor the fruits of their labors. The registration fee is $30. Call 419-892-2784 to register.

Mary Jane Thurston State Park in Wood County will hold a “Winter Bird Buffet” bird-feeding clinic at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, in the day lodge. The same clinic is scheduled for 2 p.m. in the Nature Center at Van Buren State Park in Hancock County.

With moderate temperatures and partially sunny conditions forecast for Saturday, November 4, outdoor enthusiasts may want to head to Shawnee State Park in Scioto County for a 4-mile Backpack Trail hike that begins at 10 a.m. at the lodge.
