COLUMBUS, OH -- Fairfield County resident Jeff Johnson was recently named Central Ohio Preserve Manager for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Natural Areas & Preserves.
As the central Ohio preserve manager, Johnson will manage eight state nature preserves, including Crane Hollow in Hocking County and Stage's Pond in Pickaway County. His management duties range from trail and facility maintenance to programming activities, such as educational presentations, guided field tours and hikes.
An ODNR employee for six years, Johnson previously served as a preserve manager aide for the Division of Natural Areas & Preserves and spent two years as a naturalist Ohio State Parks. Prior to working for ODNR, Johnson was an instructor at Hocking College. He holds a bachelor's degree in wildlife biology and a master's degree in zoology from Ohio University.
Raised in Amanda in Fairfield County, Johnson and his wife, Pam Patula, reside in Lancaster.
ODNR's Division of Natural Areas & Preserves manages a system of 123 state nature preserves and 20 state scenic river segments. The division's work is funded, in part, by contributions to the state income tax check-off program for natural areas and by sales of Ohio's commemorative scenic rivers license plates.
