COLUMBUS, OH -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has awarded the Medina County Solid Waste Management District and its business partner, Plastics R Unique, a $125,000 recycling market development grant to expand the company's plastic extruding and grinding capabilities.
The company will provide $159,000 in matching funds for the purchase of equipment to process an additional 5,000 tons of recycled consumer and industrial plastic for the manufacture of traffic control devices such as parking blocks, speed bumps and wheel chucks.
"These grants help establish working partnerships between state and local governments and businesses," said ODNR Director Sam Speck. "These partnerships help Ohio's economy by creating jobs and long-term markets for many of the materials collected by the state's local recycling programs."
The grant was among $375,000 recently awarded statewide as part of the Recycling Market Development Grant program of ODNR's Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention. A solid waste management district in Hamilton County and a joint county district in northwest Ohio - as well as their partner businesses - also received grants.
Since 1994, the ODNR Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention has awarded more than $4.4 million in Recycling Market Development grants to cooperating businesses and local solid waste management districts and authorities across Ohio.
