COLUMBUS, OH -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has awarded the Defiance/Fulton/Paulding/Williams Solid Waste Management District and its business partner, Haviland Plastics, a $125,000 recycling market development grant to purchase new equipment for Haviland's facility in Paulding.
The company will provide $125,000 in matching funds for the purchase of equipment used to manufacture a new product - nursery and greenhouse containers. Approximately 3,000 additional tons of plastic flake will be used each year to create these new products.
These grants help establish working partnerships between state and local governments and businesses, said ODNR Director Sam Speck. In turn, these partnerships help Ohio's economy by creating jobs and long-term markets for many of the materials collected by the state's local recycling programs.
The grant was among $375,000 recently awarded statewide as part of the Recycling Market Development Grant program of ODNR's Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention. Solid waste management districts in Medina and Hamilton counties - as well as their partner businesses - also received grants.
Since 1994, the ODNR Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention has awarded more than $4.4 million in Recycling Market Development grants to cooperating businesses and local solid waste management districts and authorities across Ohio.
