COLUMBUS, OH -- Daniel T. Schneider, a 25-year employee with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife, was recently named executive administrator of the divisions law enforcement program. He replaces Richard Scott, who recently retired.
As law enforcement administrator, Schneider will coordinate enforcement and training for the states 154 commissioned wildlife officers.
Schneider began his ODNR career in 1976 as a wildlife officer in Muskingum County. In 1993, he became wildlife law enforcement supervisor in central Ohio and was named assistant law enforcement administrator at the state level in 1998.
A native of Columbus, Schneider graduated from Bishop Watterson High School in 1970 and then The Ohio State University in 1974 with a degree in wildlife management.
Promoted into Schneiders previous position as assistant law enforcement administrator is Kevin J. ODell, originally of Beavercreek, Ohio. ODell began his career with the ODNR Division of Wildlife in 1983 as the state wildlife officer assigned to Montgomery County. In 1995, he was promoted to head the Turn-In-a-Poacher (TIP), special operations, and firearms training programs. ODell attended both Clark State and Sinclair colleges, studying law enforcement.
In other changes, Mike Taylor, wildlife law enforcement supervisor in southeast Ohio, will succeed ODell as TIP administrator.
