COLUMBUS, OH - Through a national contest, communities across Ohio are eligible to win up to $10,000 just for recycling aluminum beverage cans, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).
The “Cans for Cash” City Recycling Challenge is a national contest sponsored by the U.S. Conference of Mayors and Alcan Corporation of Cleveland. Each municipality, which fall into one of four population brackets, is eligible to apply for two $5,000 prizes to further aluminum beverage can recycling in their community. A total of $40,000 in prizes will be awarded.
The cash prizes are given for collecting the most aluminum beverage cans in their community during a designated time period as well as demonstrating innovative methods of promoting aluminum beverage can recycling.
Entries must be received by October 31. The collection period is from November 2 through November 15. For more information about the recycling challenge, visit the ODNR website at ohiodnr.com.
