COLUMBUS, OH - Officials with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) hope that Earth Science Week, October 10-16, will help remind Ohioans about the significance of the earth's resources to our society and quality of life.
“Earth science plays an integral role in our everyday lives,” said Tom Berg, chief of ODNR's Division of Geological Survey. “This celebration provides a week-long opportunity for all citizens to recognize the critical importance of the Earth sciences.”
In proclaiming October 10-16 Earth Science Week, Gov. Bob Taft said earth sciences play a substantial role in Ohioans’ understanding and respect for nature. The theme of this year’s celebration is “Living on a Restless Earth,” and focuses on natural hazards.
