AKRON SUPERVISOR TO HEAD BOATING PROGRAMS ALONG LAKE ERIE

COLUMBUS, OH -- Larry Simonetti has been promoted to serve as the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ (ODNR) boating administrator for the Lake Erie region, based in Cleveland. Simonetti currently serves as the area supervisor for the ODNR Division of Watercraft office in Akron.

He replaces Ken Alvey, who was promoted in June to the position of deputy chief for the ODNR Division of Watercraft.

“Larry’s experience in law enforcement and knowledge of northern Ohio make him an excellent choice to serve as our Lake Erie region manager,” said Jeff Hoedt, chief of the Division of Watercraft.

As Lake Erie region manager, Simonetti will be responsible for coordinating law enforcement, education and public relations efforts for Ohio’s 262-mile Lake Erie coast from Maumee Bay to Conneaut. He also will supervise field office operations located in Maumee Bay, Sandusky, Cleveland and Ashtabula.

Simonetti, 52, has been employed with the ODNR Division of Watercraft for 29 years. He has served as the Akron area supervisor since 1999. Larry resides in Akron with his wife Jeanne and sons Nathaniel and John.
