OWRC Projects
The State Agency Coordinating Group (SACG) undertakes specific projects in support of seven water related topics identified in the Strategic Plan. Projects cover a variety of areas such as public education, training opportunities, data collection, and policy recommendations.
OWRC Strategic Plan
In April 2006, the OWRC adopted a new Strategic Plan identifying seven key water related topics for the SACG and its working groups to focus on: Data and Information, Education and Outreach, Water Quality, Water Quantity, Water Related Hazards, Infrastructure, and Watersheds. A ten-year vision statement and four-year action plan were created for each topic to drive implementation of specific action items for each group. The OWRC is currently working to update the four-year plan.
Ohio Balanced Growth Program
In April of 2004 the Ohio Lake Erie Commission (OLEC) adopted the Balanced Growth Blue Ribbon Task Force recommendations for a voluntary, incentive-based program to achieve balanced growth in the Lake Erie Watershed. A series of pilot planning partnerships were funded in 2006 and a best local land use practices training program was launched the same year. The success of this initiative prompted the OWRC to move forward with statewide implementation of the program starting in the summer of 2009. Please visit the Ohio Balanced Growth Program website for more information on the program.
