The Ohio Parks and Recreation Council

The Ohio Parks and Recreation Council consists of a seven member board appointed to advise and make recommendations to the chief of the Division of Parks and Recreation in the areas of development, formulation and creation of policies, planning, programming, financing, and park acquisitions.

The council members are appointed by the Governor with one member representing each of the following areas: municipal parks, metropolitan park districts, conservancy districts, soil and water conservation districts, private recreational facilities; and two members are representatives of the general public. Each term of office is three years.

 


Dr. Neil Andrew

Neil Andrew

Dr. Neil Andrew holds the Chairman position on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board • He is from Lancaster, Ohio and represents the interests of the Public • Dr. Andrew is a Professor for the School of Natural Resources College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences for The Ohio State University • He is associated with the National Tourism Educators Society, the National Recreation and Parks Association, Ohio Parks and Recreation Association, Ohio Extension Professors Association, World Leisure and Recreation Society, and the Wilderness Society

Marc McQuaid

Marc McQuaid

Mr. Marc McQuaid is from Dublin, Ohio and represents the interests of the Private Recreational Facilities • Mr. McQuaid serves as Executive Director of the Ohio Travel Association, a non-profit trade association that represents Ohio’s tourism industry • He is also the director of a regional group tour trade show and motor coach marketplace named Heartland Travel Showcase • Mr. McQuaid serves as a member of the Ohio Division of Travel & Tourism’s Travel Industry Advisory Council • He is the President of the Ohio Society of Association Executives

John Jaeger

John Jaeger

Mr. John Jaeger is from Perrysburg, Ohio and represents the interests of the Metropolitan Park Districts • He retired as Director of  Natural Resources from the Metropolitan Park District of the Toledo Area in 2008 • Mr. Jaeger is active with the Black Swamp Conservancy, the 577 Foundation in Perrysburg, Ohio and is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional with the Ohio Parks & Recreation Association

Hans Landefeld

Hans Landefeld

Mr. Hans Landefeld is from Springboro, Ohio and represents the interests of the Conservancy Districts • Mr. Landefeld is the manager of the River Corridor Improvement Subdistrict and former administrator for the Miami Conservancy District • The subdistrict’s focus is the development of recreational amenities along the Great Miami River corridor such as bike trails, boating access and riverfront parks • He is a member of Rails to Trails Conservancy and the Ohio Parks & Recreation Association (OPRA) • Mr. Landefeld is interested in land use planning and sits on the City of Springboro’s Planning Commission

Janine Rybka

Janine Rybka

Ms. Janine Rybka is from Cleveland, Ohio and represents the interests of the Soil and Water Conservation Districts • Ms. Rybka serves as the District Administrator of the Cuyahoga Soil and Water Conservation District • This organization works with communities, Cleveland Metroparks, and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park on conservation • In addition, Ms. Rybka works with community organizations to promote green infrastructure in Cuyahoga County • Other associations include the National Association of Conservation Districts Great Lakes Committee, Ohio Association of Soil and Water Conservation District Employees, and the Cleveland State University Levin College MUPDD Advisory Committee

Molly McClure

Molly McClure

Ms. Molly McClure, CPRP, is from Cincinnati, Ohio and represents the interests of the Municipal Parks • She is currently an independent contractor with the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association and is retired from the Anderson Park District where she served as their Executive Director of Parks and Recreation. • Ms. McClure is active with Ohio Parks and Recreation Association, the National Recreation and Parks Association, and For Your Health Ohio which is an organization created to implement Ohio’s statewide plan for physical activity

 James Doss

James Doss

Mr. James M. Doss is from Gallipolis, Ohio and represents the interest of the Public • Presently he is serving his fifth year as President of the Ohio Bass Federation • The focus of the Federation is fishing, conservation programs and youth projects • He is a founding member of the Ohio League of Conservation Voters and a member of the Ohio Natural Resources Stakeholder Group • He is actively involved with local and statewide conservation issues • He has assisted with both the Raccoon Creek  and the Ohio River clean-up campaigns • He is a member of the Gallia County Conservation Club and serves on the Advisory Council for the Gallia County Convention and Visitors Bureau
