ODNR is committed to incremental, continuous improvement of both the marina and the overall park as a solid development plan is assembled and specific construction projects are initiated. It is important to set realistic expectations for completion of first major phase of development. Construction will be influenced by the availability of capital improvement dollars, the inflated cost of constructing on the island, the short construction season due to weather and construction restrictions imposed to protect the federally endangered Lake Erie Watersnake and the fish spawning. A sense of excitement and urgency is felt as ODNR sets about the business of developing a new state park area that is based on significant and clear input through a public process and a solid, phased development plan.
