EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION POLICY

| Purpose |
To set forth guidelines in developing and implementing consistent and uniform employee/team recognition and award policies and procedures within the Department and its divisions/offices; to acknowledge and promote exemplary employee performance of all ODNR permanent employees. |

Guidelines
The Department and its divisions/offices may establish recognition and awards programs to honor their employees for exemplary employee performance. Employees or groups of employees may be recognized for specific work performance or employee motivation and attitude, or other qualities that demonstrate exemplary employee performance. Achievement recognition must be limited to work-related performance.
Work performance may include thoroughness, efficiency, accuracy, going beyond what is expected, taking the initiative to identify and solve problems, and working well with minimal supervision. Motivation and attitude may include showing enthusiasm and pride in work, being courteous and cooperative, and completing job assignments professionally and dependably.
Prior to implementation, all such policies and procedures must be submitted to the Director for approval. In addition to the foregoing guidelines, these policies and/or procedures must also include the following aspects:
- Definition and purpose of award or recognition program
- Nomination process, if applicable
- Eligibility criteria
- Selection criteria
- Selection process
- Standard awards with defined values
- Award presentation/ceremony, if applicable
