Fall Color Forestry Contact 614-265-6694. Fall color conditions around the state made available to the public through 1-800-BUCKEYE. Partnership program with divisions of Parks and Recreation and Natural Areas and Preserves.

Hunter Education Wildlife All first-time license buyers must successfully complete a hunter education program. Offered free of charge year round. Contact Outdoor Skills Section, 1-800-WILDLIFE.
Navigation Aids, Buoys, and Signs Watercraft Contact carl.miller@dnr.state.oh.us or 614-265-6446. Marking hazards and helping to develop and mark zones in user conflict areas.

Standardized boating education course available in classroom, home-study, and online formats; goals include reduction of boating accidents and violations, promotion of boating risk management, and enhancing quality of boating through wise use of Ohio's aquatic resources. Meets the mandatory boating education law requirement.
Recreational Grants Parks For NatureWorks, contact Mary Fitch, 614-265-6477; Recreational Trails, D’Juan Hammonds, 614-265-6417 and capital grants, Lisa Wilson, 614-265-6399. Provides grant assistance to local governments and agencies.
Special Youth Waterfowl Hunts Wildlife Hunters age 15 or under apply in July for permit in Youth Waterfowl Hunt held the first Saturday of regular season on division-controlled hunting areas. Applications available at all Division of Wildlife district offices. Contact Division of Wildlife, 614-265-6300.
Special Youth Wild Turkey and Deer Hunts Wildlife Annual, special, controlled turkey and deer hunts for young hunters; permits issued by random drawing. Apply in summer. Contact local Wildlife District Office during June for deer; February for turkey; 614-265-6300.
State Forest Recreation Forestry Numerous recreational opportunities for Ohio citizens including hunting, fishing, hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, APV riding, mountain biking, mushroom hunting, berry picking, sightseeing, and birdwatching. Contact Chad Sanders, 614-265-6701.
Young Hunters' Special Season Wildlife Special season for youth 15 years old or younger, to encourage hunting; rabbit, pheasant and all other legal game in season on any public hunting area. Must be accompanied by a licensed non-hunting adult, 18 years or older (not more than two juveniles per adult). Contact Division of Wildlife, 1-800-WILDLIFE.
