Introduction

Welcome to the vast number of intriguing situations that you can be a part of by viewing and learning about how the study of local environments help us understand and study outer space.

As you know, Astronomy is the study of objects and matter outside the earth's atmosphere and of their physical and chemical properties. To learn more about the objects and matter outside the earth's atmosphere and of their physical and chemical properties, scientists employ a variety of different tools like telescopes, probes, and satellites. To learn more about the local environment Scientists also use these same tools. By understanding how the Earth systems work scientists can infer how the objects and matter outside the earth’s atmosphere probably behave.

Now, imagine that you are in charge of making an important presentation to hundreds of people that will attempt to explain the existence (or not) of a creature from – well – someplace other than earth. To complete the assignment, you have to decide which tool or tools will work best to help you during the mission. In order to help people understand how it is that scientists can know about objects and matter outside the earth's atmosphere. In order to do this you will need to connect the use of your tools to the work being done here on earth.
What tools would you use to support your findings that a creature was or was not from out side the earth’s atmosphere?
How would you use these tools and evidence?
Would you use the tools in any particular order?
