Ohio Communities Demonstrate Invasive Plant Control in Public Parks

City parks large and small throughout Ohio are often colonized by invasive plants that have escaped from home gardens or other infested areas. Invasive plants spoil the natural beauty of our parks, diminish the quality of wildlife habitat, and suppress native vegetation that would otherwise thrive.

The Ohio Division of Forestry is committed to spreading the word about the negative effects of invasive plants and how community leaders can effectively combat them. An important component of this education campaign is demonstration of control techniques that can be implemented to remove invasive plants from the landscape. A few communities are leading the way by providing examples of how to do this important work. Click on the right-hand links to read about ongoing control efforts in Ohio communities.
