Are you interested in?

  • A service opportunity where you will be able to help improve Ohio's forests...
  • Earning technical certifications in wildfire fighting, commercial pesticide application and in becoming a master logger…
  • Making $13.44 an hour doing conservation work at a state forest…
  • Promoting healthier Ohio woodlands by removing exotic, invasive species…
  • Earning a $2,300 AmeriCorps scholarship which can be used at traditional four-year colleges and universities, two-year colleges and technical schools, as well as for practical certificate programs ranging from beauty to bricklaying to truck driving.
  • Starting a career in Ohio’s $15 billion wood industry, or, obtaining experience and training towards becoming a conservation worker for a local, state, or national park system, state or national forest, state or national wildlife area, or for a nonprofit land management organization.

What we do…

  • Treat and remove invasive species such as Tree of Heaven and Bush Honeysuckle which suppress Ohio’s native understory…
  • Assist with timber stand improvement projects and inventorying state forest lands…
  • Bridle, hiking, and APV trail maintenance and construction…


Where we work…

These positions are of an intermittent appointment type, meaning that they are unclassified, non-benefits earning (with the exception of workers’ compensation and Ohio Public Employment Retirement System membership) and are for 1000 hours.
