Selling Yard Trees

The value of urban wood is dictated mainly by the availability of local markets. Identifying those various markets and making the link between buyer and seller is where the work begins -- it takes leg work to find a new home for a downed yard tree.

To find potential local markets for your trees, go to the custom/portable sawmills directory and firewood company directory that contain information that may be helpful and is intended to direct you to potential buyers or service providers. These contacts are normally small organizations that may have an interest in yard trees for a variety of uses ranging from wood energy to saw logs.

Forest Industries

The Forest Industries Program’s ultimate charge is to conserve Ohio’s timber resources.

Staff works cooperatively with government agencies and industrial associations to enhance Ohio’s domestic and international wood products marketing opportunities.

Ohio grows one billion board feet of wood and harvests 300-400 million board feet of timber each year.
