ODNR - Natural Resources Park at the Ohio State Fair

Can I really go fishing at the Ohio State Fair?

The kids’ fishing pond is fully stocked with channel catfish and bluegill.

Kids age 14 and younger may fish daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. using cane poles and tackle provided by the ODNR Division of Wildlife.

The division also offers hands-on demonstrations of outdoors skills, including a laser-shot simulator and archery range.

What do I do with my fish after I catch one?

If you catch a fish, an Ohio wildlife officer will help you take if off of the hook. You can leave the fish in the live well or take it home and fix it for dinner!

How many fish are in the Youth Fishing Pond?

Approximately 1,700 bluegills and 1,100 channel catfish will be stocked in the pond throughout the fair. Catfish, from the state's Hebron Fish Hatchery, are two-years old and measure 12-18 inches long. Bluegills will measure 5-7 inches.
