Flood Risk Information Open Houses 

    Flood Risk Information Open Houses are held throughout the state to unveil communities' preliminary Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps. These public forums provide citizens the opportunity to review the updated flood maps, provide comments, and ask questions. Open Houses have been scheduled for the following counties (and municipalities within them):

Letters of Final Determination

    Letters of Final Determination (LFDs) are notices of final flood elevation determination. Communities receiving their LFDs from FEMA have six months from the date of the letter to adopt compliant Flood Damage Reduction Regulations. LFDs have been issued for the following counties (and municipalities within them):

  • February 4th, 2008--Medina County Letter of Final Determination (Effective Date is August 4, 2008)
  • February 19th, 2008--Lorain County Letter of Final Determination (Effective Date is August 19, 2008)
  • February 28th, 2008--Erie County Letter of Final Determination (Effective Date is August 28, 2008)
  • June 2nd, 2008--Holmes County Letter of Final Determination (Effective Date is December 2, 2008)
  • June 16th, 2008--Union County Letter of Final Determination (Effective Date is December 16, 2008)

Map Production Delays

    Flood map production has been delayed for the following counties due to levee information collection: Butler, Ottawa, and Stark. Community officials in each county have been contacted regarding this issue, and these officials are working with FEMA to collect the necessary levee information to move map production forward. For further information regarding this issue, please see FEMA's Procedure Memoranda 34 (Interim Guidance for Studies Including Levees) and 43 (Guidelines for Identifying Provisionally Accredited Levees)
