What is a PDF file?

A Portable Document Format file (PDF) is an electronic document used to distribute many kinds of computer generated publications in a standard format that can be opened, read, navigated, searched and printed on any computer without needing the program that created the document. PDF files look exactly like the original documents and preserve the fonts, images, graphics, and layout of any source file regardless of the application and platform used to create it.

To open and use a PDF file you must have a copy of the FREE Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. Most computers will already have the reader installed or will be on install disks that came with the computer.
