Tom Pascoe Appointed to Navigation Safety Advisory Council
Sandusky resident and chairman of the Ohio Waterways Safety Council, Tom Pascoe, has been appointed to serve a three-year term on the 21-member Navigation Safety Advisory Council, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Watercraft. His term expires November 4, 2010.
The Navigation Safety Advisory Council (NAVSAC) was established by Congress to advise the Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard and Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation on matters relating to the prevention of boating-related accidents such as collisions and groundings. NAVSAC has provided significant contributions through its advice to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on such matters. Council members are appointed based upon their expertise and knowledge of the navigation rules of the road, aids to marine navigation, navigational safety equipment and vessel traffic service, separation schemes and routing.
“I am pleased to be able to serve NAVSAC as its only member from Ohio and Great Lakes region in representing the interests of our recreational boaters,” said Pascoe.
A 1962 graduate of Sandusky High School and 1967 graduate of Otterbein College, Pascoe returned to Sandusky where he served as vice-president and secretary of the Pascoe Insurance Agency until 1997. He also is a former part-time police officer for the Village of Put-In-Bay and deputy sheriff in Erie County. Pascoe recently completed his second term as Perkins Township trustee in Erie County. |
